Sidekick is leaving for maternity leave on May 20th. Office Mate and I received an email a few weeks ago regarding a baby shower for her. We both ignored it, and figured to let one of SK's cronies from her clique throw it.
Fast forward to today. I get a call from the director of the unit, requesting me to "take the lead" on hosting this fucking shower. I wanted to ignore it and hope it would go away, but no. Basically, I was strong-armed into throwing a bridal shower for someone I hate.
Kill me now. The reason I was selected from the bevy of volunteers (NOT!)? Because I have suffered, I mean, worked with her in this unit the longest. Bullshit.
The positive side of this? I get 9 months of freedom, in that she will not be back from leave until January 1, 2010.
Small favors people. :)

DONT YO GOD DAMN MOTHER EFFIN DO!!! I WILL SERIOUSLY KICK YOUR ASS....as i tell my peoples...sometimes talking risks has greater rewards. aka....say absolutely not to the baby shower.

Don't think of it as a bridal/baby shower. Think of it as a "getting ride of SK for several months" party!

Wait, baby shower or bridal shower?! No way. Don't do it. Or just make it SUCK. This isn't part of your job description!
OMG! That is horrible that you have to throw a shower for someone you can't stand!
My advice to you is to start drinking heavily. Make sure you are drunk throughout the entire shower.
Bridal shower??? I thought she was a lesbian and now she's getting married AND having a baby??? The thing I'm most floored about is that she gets to have 9 months off? Is that paid time off? When I had Autumn I only got 2 WEEKS off! I need to come work at your job! :)
i would say no. just say that you don't feel comfortable after everything she's pulled on you (wasn't she the reason you got pulled into hr and such?)
as well, if you want my kid for a bit so you can help heal your aching uterus, feel free...
i just guarantee as soon as he farts you'll hand him back..phew!
